The Most Wearable Autumn/Winter 2025 Trends
As the leaves begin to fall and the air turns crisp, the high-street shop windows also begin their evolution into a new season. This year, colour palettes remain stable with chocolate brown continuing its reign and burgundy making its return, but from a print and texture perspective, there are definitely some new kids on the block.
In this article, I’ll be diving into the key autumn/winter 2025 fashion trends shaping this season, with a focus on the most wearable high-street iterations and how to style them. Whether you’re reaching for timeless autumn staples or ready to experiment with something new, this 2025 autumn season is all about experimentation with print, texture, and colour.
Cow Print
Wondering how cowboy core will reign supreme into Autumn 2025? Cow print, duh. Think of her as leopard print’s younger cousin, splashes can be seen across most high street stores this season. Like most animal prints, it can be quite easy to veer into cheap looking territory with cow print. To keep it looking premium, opt for options in rich chocolate brown and white pony hair, more subtle, less exaggerated styles of print, or iterations in real leather that you’ll reach for time and time again.
How to Style It
Not necessarily a print you’d want to go head to hoof in (sorry, couldn’t resist), instead enhance your jeans and a white tee combo with a pair of cow print ballet flats or bovine-inspired bag for a playful yet tasteful look.
Lace & Satin
The combination we didn’t know we needed this season. An A/W take on this year’s ladylike trend that has permeated each high street collection this year so far, lace slip skirts, dresses, and matching tops are a force to be reckoned with. Think nightie-esque slips with whispers of lace adorning the neckline and lace-trimmed skirts peeking out beneath slouchy knits.
How to Style It
For daytime styling, style an oversized woolen knit over a bias cut satin skirt (with lace detailing, of course) and leather boots. Or, opt for a lace trimmed cami worn over straight leg jeans. For nighttime luxe, go all out lavish with a hint of provocation by styling your lace adorned slip skirt co-ord with an oversized faux fur coat and delicate kitten heels or slingbacks.
Chocolate Brown
It’s back and here to stay…in fact, it never really left. Brown was the new black last Winter, and with sumptuous chocolates adorned with molten gold accents dominating high summer fits, it’s no surprise it’s firmly cemented its place in this year’s autumn colour palette too. The high street is already bursting with cosy knits, tailored trousers, leather jackets, and boxy tees, all in rich, deep brown tones. Good enough to eat!
How to Style It
Put simply, anything you’d usually wear in black for autumn, consider swapping to brown. Think dark brown leather boots, chocolate trench coats, brown patterned tights, and buttery suede bags, this year in chocolate brown. Try colour drenching your fit with chocolate brown tailored trousers and a matching colour knit paired with adidas Handball Spezials in brown.
All Over Lace
Not only is lace trickling its way over the satin of the season, but it’s also having its own moment. An autumnal take on the boho trend, head-to-toe lace dresses, tiered ruffle co-ords, sheer tie blouses, and lace pencil skirts are all leading the way as far as autumn 2025 fashion trends are concerned. But this version isn’t a delicate decoration, this lace is chunky, juxtaposing perfectly with its reveals of skin, a more wearable take on the naked dressing trend we saw at the Blumarine, Nina Ricci, Chloé, and Valentino autumn/winter 2025 shows.
How to Style It
The perfect option for any occasions you might be stuck knowing how to dress for this season, the high street’s offering of lace dresses in tones of burgundy, black, and brown are your go-to. Paired with chunky bangles over long sleeves and simple heels or for day time dressing, styled with a gilet and ankle boots, this is autumn boho dressing at its best.
Polka Dot
I won’t lie, I was definitely skeptical about the return of polka dot print this summer. Reserved in my head for retro dressing, I’ve never quite been one for wearing it but this year’s take on the trend has pleasantly surprised me. This summer saw polka dot sundress and co-ord aplenty in what’s proving itself to be the colour of the year; chocolate brown of course. The print that donned the Euro Summer influencer Insta feeds is showing no signs of slowing down.
How to Style It
For Autumn polka dot styling, consider using accessories to nod to the trend and enhance your cold-weather fits, as opposed to dominating them. One of the chicest ways to wear the print is with a scarf. Whether it’s tied around your waist à la the summer 2025 scarf belt trend or going vintage with one elegantly wrapped around your head, it’s a surefire way to elevate your look this season. Wanting more? Style a polka dot midi or maxi dress with knee high leather boots by day or with a pair of sleek strappy heels and a pop of colour in your accessories by night.
Suede
Not quite a surprise given it’s one of the most timeless autumn textures, but suede is back and bigger than ever this year. From the return of the UGG (SO thankful for this) to the lockdown dominance of the Birk, this year suede is taking over everything, not just footwear. Think soft-to-touch bags, super smooth trousers, and, of course, the suede bomber.
How to Style It
Suede is notoriously difficult to wear, particularly in the UK, given the unpredictability of autumn and winter weather. If you’re experiencing a crisp, autumnal day however, consider styling your choice of autumn 2025’s suede bomber with a simple white tee and jeans combo to let the jacket do all the talking. Not feeling this year’s outerwear staple? Go suede with your accessories instead: bags, birks, boots, you name it, there’ll be the perfect piece out there just waiting for you this season.
Autumn 2025 Fashion Trends
And that’s a wrap on this season’s most wearable trends. I truly love this time of year as it feels like we’re encouraged to play with layers, reimagine textures, and go bold with print. I’m definitely excited to experiment with a few of these looks (I may have already started with some cow print nails…), and I can’t wait to see how everyone over on Instagram and Pinterest make them their own. Do you lean more toward classic staples, or are you ready to dive into something daring this season?
