I’ve always wanted to visit Vienna for its Christmas Markets and this Winter I finally did it! There’s just something so appealing about a winter city break, stocking up on Christmas goodies and drinking gluwein. What can be difficult is knowing what to wear for this type of getaway. The aim, of course, is to look as stylish as possible whilst keeping warm given you are most likely going to be outside all day. With this in mind, I’ve compiled another little travel style guide, as I did in my What to Wear for a City Break in Barcelona post and What to Pack for a Summer Holiday in the Autumn post.
For a day spent exploring during a winter city break, comfort and warmth is key. My feet are the absolute worst for blistering so a comfy pair of boots were essential for me. I paired my trusty studded leather boots with a pair of French Connection Ecru Straight Leg Jeans (these are sold out now but I have linked some alternatives below!).
Add to that a cosy black jumper, tie-belt camel coat and a black baker hat and you have yourself a snug yet super practical outfit for city wandering.

For a cosy evening in Vienna, trying out the local restaurants, I styled an oversized cream wool jumper with a leopard print midi skirt. Paired with heeled hiker boots, the thigh split of the skirt adds an extra “dressy” feel to an otherwise casual outfit.

For a slightly sunnier day, I braved bare legs, opting for a cream midi jumper dress. This camel coat from my The Camel Coat You Should Invest In post was the perfect outerwear to take on this trip. It isn’t too bulky for packing in your suitcase or wearing on the plane, making it the perfect coat to layer.
