Is there anything that screams Italian more than Dolce & Gabbana at the moment? I think not. I mean, how could anything possibly compete with pasta print motifs, gelato get-ups and apron inspired jute dresses? In true Italian style, every piece from the brand’s latest collection seems to be adorned with food or religious figures and, like everything else found in southern Italy and Sicily, completely in abundance.
A far cry from last year’s A/W offerings of their very own fairytale (read my post here), this year the designers went back to their roots, creating a juxtaposing authentic yet imaginary Italian experience, fusing traditional Italian trattorias with the fantasy world of Italian Tropic depicting the Italian islands of Ischia, Pantelleria, Capri and, of course, Sicily.
Travel to the Italian Tropic, where everything Italian like pasta, bread and superstitious symbols mix with an overall holiday mood punctuated by cocktails, ice creams and sequins.
