For one reason or another, I have always found myself lacking the confidence to wear jumpsuits. I think maybe my height is the issue. Although I am only an average 5”6, I still find myself feeling taller than a lot of people and feel that jumpsuits just elongate me, especially my never-ending legs.
However I thought it was time that I conquered my fears and brave my one and only H&M jumpsuit that’s been hiding at the back of my wardrobe for about a year. Despite buying some time ago, it’s floral pattern never seems to go out of style and is perfect for that inbetween British summer weather I have experienced for all of my eighteen years. Finding an outfit that covers you up just enough in the breeze but still screams “it’s summer everyone!” is an increasingly difficult task. This is why I think the jumpsuit is a perfect option. My halter-neck version especially, as it showed off my back and arms but gave me a sense of security in cool breezes by covering my legs and stomach. I found this one also gave my slender body the illusion of more curves, thanks to it’s heavily elasticated waist.
What I did struggle with was finding a pair of shoes which went well with this outfit. With it’s intense floral pattern, this proved more difficult than expected. I finally opted for some simple tan sandals. I found the strap and bar detail met perfectly with the elasticated bottom of the jumpsuit and the plain colour balanced out the patterned material. With an outfit like this, all eyes must be on the body and not distracted by other elements such as shoes and accessories.
